Manisha Koirala remembers the time she shot Dil Se with Shah Rukh Khan

There is hardly anyone who hasn’t watched Dil Se… It isn’t part of Shah Rukh Khan‘s hit list but it is one of the films that make every fan of the actor proud of him. It was a film which was ahead of its time, dealing with the insurgency situation in North East. One of the biggest takeaways of the film was SRK and Manisha Koirala‘s chemistry, which suited the theme of the film perfectly. It wasn’t over-the-top or dramatic but subtle and effective. But we always wondered what it was like shooting the film together for them since they were coming back after three years. Guddu released in 1995 while Dil Se… hit the theatres in 1998. Guess somebody heard us because Manisha tweeted about her experience of shooting the film a while back.

Manisha wrote, “Fabulous shooting with @iamsrk.” She also shared a video that Red Chillies Entertainment shared on Twitter while expressing it. Dil Se was Mani Ratnam third part in the trilogy of romance in the backdrop of politics and terrorism. The other two were Roja and Bombay. Both these films were cinematic gems taking us to areas which burned due to politics but love still survived. However, in Dil Se… the end was far from being happy.” Check out Koirala’s quote right here…

While speaking to Imtiaz Ali during the promotions of her film, Dear Maya, Koirala spoke at length about Shah Rukh Khan. She said, “He has been the same, except the fact that with Mani sir, everybody gets quite (respectful), addressing him with ‘sir’. Shah Rukh is full of energy and enthusiasm. He is a great guy to work with. He has been an absolute pleasure. He used to be very protective and advise me a lot. He probably felt, ‘She is not getting it right.’ I was way too casual. I didn’t care much.”
