The new trailer for Netflix’s first original Indian series, Sacred Games has been released today. The first teaser was positively received by everyone and the fans of the platform were eagerly looking forward to the release of the series on July 6. The new trailer is only going to heighten their excitement. The fresh footage of the series centres on the establishing the conflict between the protagonists, played by Radhika Apte and Saif Ali Khan, and the villain, played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Nawazuddin’s Ganesh Gaitonde is a vicious, evil, delusional man who thinks of himself as God and is hellbent to destroy the city of Mumbai. He tips off a police officer, Sartaj Singh (Saif), about his own plans. And the game of cat and mouse begins. The story is set in the ’80s and the execution of the same is very sleek. The exciting visuals of the trailer unfold with the background music of Divine’s rap Jungli Sher – whose success was long overdue. The trailer paints a gritty picture of the Mumbai city where everything is on stakes. This one is going to be a thrilling saga of 8 episodes that we all need to binge watch on Day 1.

The series has been directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap. It is based on the best selling novel of the same name by author Vikram Chandra. Anurag had told PTI, “Probably for the first time I’ll be reaching out to the most number of people in my entire career as a filmmaker. I have seen it (TV series) like I’m making a movie for the whole world. I welcome that pressure on me and I want to go with that.”

Netflix has also announced three new original series in addition to Sacred Games. The three new originals are — Leila, Ghoul and Crocodile. “We are proud to continue to invest in original content in India. These three series, from the scary to the supernatural, represent the tremendous diversity that Indian storytelling holds for a global audience. We are thrilled to work with some of the world’s most talented writers and producers to bring these stories to life for India and the world,” said Erik Barmack, vice president of international original series, at Netflix.
