In the history of Kannada cinema the longest title ‘Sarkari Hiriya Prathamika Shale Kasargod, Koduge Ramanna Rai’ makes a fervent appeal to teach in the language that is close to the children at the tender age. In this case the yesteryears Kannada cinema ‘Prarthane’ obviously comes to the memory for giving primacy to Kannada language.
While ‘Prarthane’ of Sadashiva Shenoy dealt with statistics of fate of all Kannada schools in the state, SHPSK gives the status of one particular school in Kasargod that has Malayalam language forcefully applied on the students.
Out of 31 Kannada schools in the beginning it came down to three in the last so many years. One of the Kannada schools now closed with good attendance of 52 students is a clear case of atrocity on Kannada language in Kasargod the film explains.
In that case what is the measure? The Malayalam language schools are giving super benefits to the students but the Kannada schools are neglected. This is the situation in Kasargod in real life too. The students take up the protest and reach out to Mysuru for measures to retain the school via judiciary.
Rishab Shetty exposes the misappropriation to the school in the court hall as Ananthapadmnabha P – P for Peacock argues the case in favor of children. The children should be given education in the language they dream and not forcefully applied is the main focus of this film.
Why Rishab Shetty film is viable in 149 minutes of narration is the naughtiness of children in the first half. Tucked with good songs and children having mainstay is appealing. As the grouse of children increases the film gets the serious turn with the advent of Ananthnag character.
The children of this film give respite for the first half with comedy timing and good performance. Pramod Shetty, Tuminadu, Ramesh Bhat and a few others have given able support.
Versatile actor Ananthnag funny approach later transforming to serious argument in the court hall is adorable. Ananthnag is as good as ever in his performance.
Vasuki Vybhav in his music has lent another height to the film. Praveena Dadda…Dadda….Hey Sharade…Arare Avala Naguva….are well composed and delivered.
Venkatesh Anguraj highly talented cameraman gets the right feel from his cinematography for this film. Dialogues of this film are on top gear and children have delivered it with perfect timing.
Kannada schools fate at the border areas, the government should take serious step is the appeal of this film.
