ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಪೂಜಾರಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡೋದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಸತ್ತವರ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾರ್ಮೋನಿಯಂ ನುಡಿಸೋನು ಅರಸಯ್ಯ. ತಲೆ ತುಂಬಾ ಕೂದಲು, ಕಪ್ಪು ಬಣ್ಣ, ನೋಡಲು ದಪ್ಪ, ಕಿವಿ ಮಂದ… ತನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗೋ ಹುಡುಗಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಸುಂದರವಾಗಿರಬೇಕು ಅನ್ನೋದು ಅವನ ಬಯಕೆ. ಇಂಥವನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆ ಪೋಸ್ಟ್ ಆಫೀಸಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡೋ ಹುಡುಗಿ ಕುಮಾರಿ ಕಾಲಿಡುತ್ತಾಳೆ.

ಮೇಲ್ನೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ಇದು ತಮಾಷೆ ಕಥಾವಸ್ತುವಿನ ಸಿನಿಮಾ ಆದರೂ, ಅದರೊಳಗೆ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ಗಾಢತೆಯಿದೆ; ಕಂಡ ಕನಸು ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಕೈ ಬಿಟ್ಟುಹೋಗುತ್ತದೋ ಎನ್ನುವ ಸಂಕಟವಿದೆ. ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿದವರಿಗೆ ʻಜಾತಿʼ ಎಷ್ಟು ಅಡ್ಡಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೋ, ʻಜಾತಕʼ ಕೂಡಾ ಅದೇ ರೇಂಜಿಗೆ ತೊಡಕಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಅರಸಯ್ಯನ ಪ್ರೇಮ ಪ್ರಸಂಗಕ್ಕೂ ಅಂಥದ್ದೊಂದು ಉರುಲು ಸುತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ಉಪದ್ರವ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ಮೀರಿ ಅರಸಯ್ಯನ ಪ್ರೇಮಪ್ರಸಂಗ ಸಫಲವಾಗುತ್ತದಾ ಅನ್ನೋದೇ ಚಿತ್ರದ ಅಂತಿಮ ಗುಟ್ಟು! ಮೊದಲ ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ನೊಂಚೂರು ಫನ್‌ ಎಲಿಮೆಂಟು, ಕಾಮಿಡಿ ಡೋಸ್‌ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಬೇಕಿತ್ತು ಅಂತನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ದ್ವಿದೀಯ ಭಾಗದ ಹೊತ್ತಿಗೆ ಕಥೆ ಒಂದು ನಿರ್ದಿಷ್ಟ ಚೌಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ತಲುಪಿರುತ್ತದೆಯಾದ್ದರಿಂದ ಎಲ್ಲೂ ಗೊಂದಲ, ಬೇಸರವಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

ಇದು ʻಹಳ್ಳಿ ಸಬ್ಜೆಕ್ಟುʼ. ಕೀ ಪ್ಯಾಡ್‌ ಕಾಲಘಟ್ಟದ ಪ್ರೇಮಕತೆ ಇದರಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಭಾಗದ ಕಥೆಯನ್ನು ಬರೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳೋದೇನೋ ಸುಲಭ. ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ, ಹತ್ತಿಪ್ಪತ್ತು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಆವತ್ತಿನ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯನ್ನು ಮರುಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸೋದು ತುಂಬಾನೇ ಕಷ್ಟದ ಕೆಲಸ. ಜಾಗತೀಕರಣದ ಸ್ಟ್ರೈಟ್‌ ಎಫೆಕ್ಟಿಂದ ಈಗ ಹಳ್ಳಿ ವಾತಾವರಣವೇ ಇಲ್ಲದಂತಾಗಿ ಹೋಗಿದೆ. ಈ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನೋಡಿದರೆ, ʻಅರಸಯ್ಯನ ಪ್ರೇಮ ಪ್ರಸಂಗʼದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಹಳ್ಳಿ, ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಪರಿಸರ, ಮನೆಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಎಲ್ಲೂ ಅಂದಗೆಡದಂತೆ ನೀಟಾಗಿ ಚಿತ್ರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕಾಮಿಡಿ ಜಾನರಿನ ಸಿನಿಮಾ ಅಂದಕೂಡಲೇ ಬರೀ ಡೈಲಾಗು, ಕಲಾವಿದರ ಹಾವ-ಭಾವವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಫೋಕಸ್‌ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅರಸಯ್ಯನ ಹೆಚ್ಚುಗಾರಿಕೆ ಅಂದರೆ, ಈ ಚಿತ್ರದ ಮೇಕಿಂಗ್‌ಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಹಣ ಖರ್ಚು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರತೀ ಫೇಮು ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಒದಗಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಲೈಟಿಂಗು, ಕ್ಯಾಮೆರಾ ವರ್ಕ್‌ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟದಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದೆ.

ಅರಸಯ್ಯನ ಪ್ರೇಮ ಪ್ರಸಂಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಗಮನಿಸಬೇಕಾದ ಅಂಶವಿದೆ. ಎಲ್ಲ ಕಡೆ ಕಾಣಸಿಗುವ ಕಲಾವಿದರು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕಡಿಮೆ. ಆದರೆ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಅದ್ಭುತವಾಗಿ ನಟಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಬಹುತೇಕ ಪಾತ್ರಗಳಿಗೆ ರಂಗಭೂಮಿಯ ಕಲಾವಿದರನ್ನು ಕರೆತಂದಿರುವುದು ಬಹುಶಃ ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣ. ಹೊಸ ಮುಖಗಳು, ಹೊಸ ಕಲಾವಿದರ ಅನುಭವೀ ನಟನೆ ನೋಡುಗರಿಗೂ ಹೊಸ ಫೀಲ್‌ ಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ.

ಫ್ರೆಂಚ್‌ ಬಿರಿಯಾನಿ ಖ್ಯಾತಿಯ ಮಹಂತೇಶ್‌ ʻಅರಸಯ್ಯʼನಾಗಿ ಪೂರ್ಣ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದ ಹೀರೋ ಆಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಮಹಂತೇಶ್‌ ಅದ್ಭುತ ಟೈಮಿಂಗ್‌ ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಅಪರೂಪದ ಕಲಾವಿದ. ಸಣ್ಣ ಪಾತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಇವರು ತೆರೆ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಂದರೇನೆ ಜನರ ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ನಗು ಚಿಮ್ಮುತ್ತದೆ. ಅರಸಯ್ಯನ ಪ್ರೇಮ ಪ್ರಸಂಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಡೀ ಸಿನಿಮಾವನ್ನು ಮಹಂತೇಶ್‌ ಆವರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದೂ ಸನ್ನಿವೇಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾತ್ರವೇ ತಾವಾಗಿ, ಅನುಭವಿಸಿ ನಟಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಗಿಸುವುದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಕಣ್ಣು ತೇವಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಕೂಡಾ ಇವರಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ನಾಯಕಿ ರಶ್ಮಿತಾ ಗೌಡ ಮನೆ ಮಗಳಂತೆ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮವಾಗಿ ಅಭಿನಯಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಡೀಪಿ ಸತೀಶ್‌ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಾಣಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅಪಾರವಾಗಿ ನಗಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಹನುಮಕ್ಕ, ರಘು ರಾಮನಕೊಪ್ಪ ಮತ್ತು ಎಲ್ಲ ರಂಗಭೂಮಿ ಕಲಾವಿದರ ಅಭಿನಯ ಸೂಪರ್.‌

In rural areas, just as “caste” can be a major obstacle for lovers, a “horoscope” can be an equally daunting hurdle. Arasayya’s love affair gets entangled in such a snare, creating chaos. Whether his love story succeeds in overcoming this is the film’s ultimate secret.

One feels that the first half could have used a few more fun elements and a higher dose of comedy. However, by the second half, the story settles into a clear framework, ensuring there is no confusion or boredom.

This is a film with a “village subject,” telling a love story from the era of keypad mobile phones. While it might seem easy to write a rural story, it is incredibly difficult to recreate a village from ten or twenty years ago. Globalization has drastically changed the rural landscape. In this regard, Arasayyana Prema Prasanga does a neat job of portraying a village, its environment, and its homes without compromising on authenticity. Often, comedy films focus heavily on dialogue and actors’ expressions. The strength of Arasayyana, however, is that significant money has been spent on its production value. Every frame is a testament to this; the lighting and camera work are of high quality.

Another noteworthy aspect of Arasayyana Prema Prasanga is its casting. The film features fewer familiar faces, but every actor has performed brilliantly. This is likely because many of the roles are played by theatre artists. These new faces and their experienced acting provide a fresh feel for the audience.

Mahantesh of French Biriyani fame steps into a full-fledged hero role as ‘Arasayya.’ Mahantesh is a rare artist with brilliant comic timing. Even his brief appearances in small roles can bring a smile to people’s faces. In this film, he completely owns the screen. He fully immerses himself in the character in every scene, acting with genuine feeling. He possesses the power to not only make you laugh but also bring a tear to your eye.

The heroine, Rashmitha Gowda, looks just like the girl next door and has delivered an excellent performance. DP Satish has a significant presence and provides plenty of laughs. The performances by Hanumakka, Raghu Ramanakoppa, and all the other theatre artists are simply superb.
